Where are my fellow 90’s babies that can relate to the meme above? lol, I just turned 30 last week on January 10th(shoutout to my fellow Capricorns) I truly still can’t believe it. When you are in your early twenties, you think 30 will never come and that it is “so old” but after 25, time went by even faster in my humble opinion.
At first, I didn’t really want to celebrate turning 30 because I felt kind of down and was focusing on the negative/things I didn’t accomplish yet or thought I would have by this age. In talking to friends, family, and my therapist about it, they all helped me to realize that I am not old and still have time. They reminded me of how much I have accomplished and am currently doing which made me feel so much better.
It is truly such a blessing to make it to 30(especially while suffering from PMDD, mental health issues, having Covid, and living in the crazy world that we are in today) A couple of months ago, the idea came to me to plan a girls trip to Walt Disney World, Florida and Universal for a few days before my birthday. I haven’t been since I was 11 and wanted to experience it as an adult. I wanted to do something different and am so glad that I decided to plan something because I had the best time with my girls and miss it already(I would’ve regretted not doing a trip or something special for this milestone)
Here are five tips/ideas for planning an epic 30th birthday celebration:
-
Plan in Advance- Whether you are planning a party, trip, or spa day, give yourself and friends and family enough notice so that they are able to attend and you aren’t stressed or overwhelmed with trying to pull things together at the last minute.
-
Stick to a theme/what you want to do- It is important to remember that this is your special day and you can celebrate it however you chose. Even if it’s a sleepover with a friend, if that’s what you want to do, go for it and do what makes you happy.
-
Keep it under a certain budget- Planning trips and booking flights, hotels, Airbnb, etc. can get very pricey. Try to save up as much as you can in advance and give yourself a budget of what you are willing to spend for the trip/on it so that you won’t come back broke while still having a great, budget-friendly time.
-
Keep it small- Although we want everyone to be included or feel like we need a certain amount of people with us to celebrate when planning a trip, it is easier for yourself and your wallet to invite the people closest to you. Trust me, in the long run, it works out for the best and you will appreciate whoever is there with you.
-
Embrace it and have fun- Turning 30 or getting older generally can feel scary but it really isn’t too bad and you will be okay. Take pictures, and videos, and purchase anything you can like I did such as group t-shirts or souvenirs to remember the occasion and make it extra special. You only live once and the memories will last a lifetime. Try to be thankful and blessed to see another year because it is a gift <3
I hope these tips helped anyone who is turning 30 and trying to plan something or knows someone who is turning 30 and unsure of what to do. Please comment, subscribe, and share with a friend. Thanks so much for the support always warriors xoxo
